A cocktail that "hits with remarkable precision" as Harry Craddock of the Savoy Hotel once said
Named after the French M1897 field gun from the First World War, and apparently mixed by British soldiers using gin they brought from home and local french sparkling wine. It first appears in print in Harry MacElhone's (of Harry's New York Bar, Paris) book "Harry's ABC of Mixing Cocktails" published in 1922.
Andy's Top Tip - Chill all of the ingredients and the glass to ensure the drink is at the correct temperature.
