A sumptuous after-dinner drink for those looking for a liquid alternative to dessert

I created this for a Christmas Cocktail article for the Guardian, the inspiration coming from traditional Italian festive ingredients.  I played on the idea Italian sweet bread, often paired with mascarpone and a glass of desert wine.

How to make a Temperature Raisin cocktail at home


  • 15ml Raisin Infused Gold Rum
  • 5ml Amaretto
  • 10ml Dark Chocolate Liqueur
  • 10ml Malt Extract
  • 75ml Double Cream
  • Garnish - A handful of rum infused raisins dusted with icing sugar



  • Pour all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker
  • Fill with ice and shake
  • Strain into and ice-filled rocks glass
  • Add the raisins on top and dust with icing sugar
