Created at Chasen's restaurant in Los Angeles for none other than Mr Dean Martin
This drink is really special to me. Not only was it created for my idol, dean Martin, but it was also the first drink I ever had with my 'bar idol' Mr Dale DeGroff, at his Blackbird Restaurant, NYC.
How to make a Flame of Love cocktail at home
Ingredients
- 5ml Fino Sherry
- 60ml Vodka
- Garnish - A flamed orange zest (Dale's signature garnish) - The original version called for multiple flamed zests but I'm no Dean Martin so I'll settle for one.
Instructions
- Fill a mixing glass with ice
- Pour in the ingredients in the order listed
- Stir for 30 seconds
- Fine strain into a chilled cocktail (martini) glass
- Squeeze the orange zest through a lighter flame over the surface of the drink and then place in the glass
